Sometimes, the simplest recipes are the ones that stick with you forever — the ones passed down on notecards, shared between neighbors, or scribbled on the back of a grocery list. Homestyle Cracker Chicken is exactly that kind of dish. It’s crispy, buttery, and impossibly easy to make, yet feels like pure comfort on a plate.
With just a handful of pantry staples — buttery crackers, chicken breasts, a little garlic salt, and melted butter — you’ll have a golden, crunchy coating that’s somehow both indulgent and light. Pair it with mashed potatoes, a crisp salad, or just sneak bites straight from the pan (we’ve all been there).
Whether you’re cooking for a busy weeknight, a laid-back Sunday dinner, or looking for a recipe that the whole family will devour without complaint, this one’s got you covered. And the best part? It’s on the table in less than an hour, with practically zero cleanup.
So grab those crackers, preheat the oven, and let’s get cooking!

Two (2) eggs, beaten
One (1) cup buttery crackers, crushed
One (1) teaspoon garlic salt
Half (1/2) cup butter
PREP WORK

Crush the crackers in a bowl
COOKING

Add the garlic salt and pepper to the cracker mix
1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a baking dish or line it with foil for easy cleanup.
2. Prepare the coating: In a shallow bowl, mix the crushed buttery crackers with the garlic salt.
3. Dip and coat: Dip each chicken breast in the beaten eggs, then roll in the cracker mixture until evenly coated.
4. Arrange: Place the coated chicken breasts in the prepared baking dish.
5. Drizzle with butter: Pour the melted butter evenly over the top of the chicken breasts. This is where the magic happens!
6. Bake: Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the coating is golden and crispy. (Internal temperature should reach 165°F.)
7. Serve and enjoy! Pair with mashed potatoes, roasted veggies, or a crisp side salad.
